Vancouver Island Pet Expo 2011!

The Vancouver Island Pet Expo is a two day consumer event for pet lovers on May 28th & 29th at Pearkes Recreation Centre. Whether it’s a dog, cat, fish, bird or small exotic, the Expo will provide an opportunity to shop for products for your pet under one roof. Guests will also have an opportunity to talk with professionals who can answer your questions or provide advice about your special friend.

There are some incredible feature areas you won’t want to miss at 2011 Vancouver Island Pet Expo including wiener dog races, dog fashion show, canine musical freestyle, young trainers, natural horsemanship demonstrations to name a few. Citizen Canine’s 8th Annual Everybody and Their Dog Walk!

The 8th annual Everybody & Their Dog Walk takes place from 10:00 until 2:00 at Beaver lake Park. Events include the traditional leash-optional walk through the woods and five fun dog shows where you and your dog can strut your stuff, plus more than 20 booths offering information from dog organizations and businesses around the region.

Dog shows run from noon to 1:45 with a nomial entry fee of $1 for each contest.

5. Dog the Judge Most Wants to Take Home

Pizza and hot dogs will be available by donation with proceeds going to Big Heart Rescue. Registration opens at 10 and the walk sets off at 11, followed by the dog show.
The Canine Good Neighbour Test will run from 10:00 to 2:00.

Dogs are considered omnivores since they may eat grasses, berries, and veggies in addition to prey. Cats are obligate carnivores, meaning they must eat a balanced raw meat diet to thrive. Feeding grains and carbs change a cat’s naturally acidic PH, leading to a whole host of allergies and chronic diseases! We provide animals with the perfect raw food diet that Nature intended:  lean raw meat, with a meat-bone ratio of 50-50, organs, and some essential vegetables (found in a prey’s stomach) and invaluable organic nutrients.

Raw is better. Dogs’ and cats’ short digestive tracts are actually intended to assimilate raw meats best; the more raw pet food you can include in your pet’s diet, the better!  And the fresher the diet, the more essential nutrients are available to build immunity and ward off disease. Cooked and commercial food ruins nutrients and loads on excess carbs and toxic additives. You wouldn’t want those in your own body!
